ONGOING CREW TRAINING

ICE PATROL WORKSHOP

District 1(SR)  Aviation has scheduled an Ice Patrol Workshop  Saturday 13 Dec 03,
10:00 AM at the Caldwell Air Service Hanger on Essex County Airport (Caldwell).
 
 As District 1-SR will begin flying Ice Patrols that weekend, attendance is recommended for all Pilots, Observers & Trainees. The Workshop will last approx. 1 1/2 to 2 hours and will be followed by area Familiarization Flights and Actual Ice Patrols (weather permitting)
 
In addition to the District 1(SR) personnel who will present the class, we will also be joined by CWO Curt Barthel from Activities New York, who is the regular Coast Guard Officer responsible for Ice Patrols in our District.
 
Pilots intending to fly to CDW should contact Lou Barone for orders before 1700 Wednesday 10Dec03. Check Netskeds for further details.

AVIATION EGRESS & WATER SURVIVAL WORKSHOP

Notice to Observer Trainees, Qualified Observers, and Air Crew Applicants
 
1TRAINEE OBSERVERS - (re: form DAB 99-1 Record of Auxiliary Observer Qualification) - . Observer Trainees applying for initial qualification must obtain all required FE signatures before submitting to ADSO-AVQ (Peter Lombardo).
 
2. QUALIFIED OBSERVERS - (re: form DAB 99-1 Record of Auxiliary Observer Qualification) - Qualified Observers reporting annual currency maintenance requirements need not have a Flight Examiner sign the form. Observers shall complete DAB 99-1 and submit it to ADSO-AVQ (Peter Lombardo).
 
3. AIR CREW APPLICANTS - re: form ANSC 7043  - Coast Guard Auxiliary Air Crew Application Form. It is no longer necessary to submit Form 7043 prior to entering the Air Crew syllabus. With this exception, Commandant Instruction 16798.2 must be followed.

Auxiliary National "C" Schools

The National "C" schools Vision Statement consist of viewing training as a three tiered educational process and delivery system. These three levels are flotilla level training and certification, district/division training (including the annual National Training Conference), and the National "C" schools.

The national staff conducts national schools at CG training facilities in different parts of the country. Auxiliarists who have been active in their mission area, meet the course prerequisites, and agree to further train members in their own district/division upon return, are eligible to apply. All national schools have course prerequisites.

All Auxiliary national school are classified as CG "C" school training for purposes of messing, berthing, classroom, and logistics. Due to the limited number of quotas available to these schools, Auxiliarists are ineligible to attend if they have been enrolled in any Auxiliary national school within the past three years.

Coast Guard Courses

SAR School Training. National Search and Rescue schools may be offered annually to Auxiliarists in locations varying from year to year throughout the country. The general program consists of classroom lectures interspersed with practical problems, guest speakers prominent in the field of search and rescue, workshops, examinations, and homework. The SAR School training is advanced training designed to provide specific instruction to CG and selected Auxiliary personnel who may participate inTop Of This Page SAR activities in CG Operations Centers (OPCENs).

Coast Guard Correspondence Courses

All correspondence courses offered by the CG Institute, except classified courses, are available to Auxiliary members. Aviation, boat-handling, damage control, electrical, electronics, telephone technician, navigation are a few that are offered.

We Need You -- The Coast Guard Auxiliary is called upon to provide essential services to the Coast Guard as they focus more heavily on their military missions.  We need all the help we can get.  You needn't own a boat or be an experienced boater, since our missions are wide-ranging.  For information about Auxiliary missions and the Auxiliary in general, go to our Join the Auxiliary web page.  You will find there a form through which you can ask that a local Auxiliarist make contact with you toTop Of This Page explore the ways in which you can assist Team Coast Guard.
