Meeting called to order at 1935 by J Fisher, FC,  followed by the Flag Salute led by J Witemeyer. Quorum was present. 

Minutes of Nov and Dec 2007: Approved  M/S/U

New Members: B Werner and M Mortenson were sworn in.  Staff officers sworn in: MA – D. Fuchs; MT – B. Castagno; PA – G. San Antonio; PE – J. Malzone; PS – R. Coleman; VE – F. Hartten; SR – P. Witham.

Awards:  10th Aux Sustained Service to R Witham,  PE Service Performance to

              J Witemeyer and J Fisher.  Flotilla Awarded  the NACO Growth Award.Top Of This Page

 

FC Report:   Motion to donate $100 to the Carmen DeGregorio Hero Fund.  M/S/U. 

             Members need to use Fin-2 forms for reimbursement from flotilla funds.

             Send to Flotilla Commander for approval. FC will submit to FSO-FN for payment.

             FSO’s should be submitting a monthly report to their SO’s in addition to their VFC. 

            Coxswains should have received replacement batteries for their PEPIRBS.

            If they have not and theirs is due for replacement by upcoming patrol season,

            notify FC. District store is closed.  7030, 7001, and 7038 forms are new.

            Discard old forms.  NSBW, May 24-June 1. No open house at Sta. Manasquan this

            year due to security issues.  $63.25 will be the cost/instructor to NJSP to be certified

            as an Instructor for Public Education classes.  Registration will begin on Jan 25 for

*SO-FN (FINANCE) – Patti Witham – as of 1/8/08 – Patti has paid for COW; has paid for pocket calendars and paid into the Carmen DeGregorio Memorial Fund,  our balance is $2,118.95.  COW funds totaled  $2,850 but our expenses totaled  $3,079.70.  This shortfall was anticipated, however, and accounted for.

*SO-CM (COMMUNICATIONS) – Bob Witham – absent - see written report;

*SO-MA (MATERIALS) – Jim Lonergan – see written report;

*SO-MS (MARINE SAFETY) – Lou Lucatelli – no written report but Lou did advise he has sent emails to all Flotilla Staff Officers – MS;

*SO-PS (PERSONNEL SERVICES) – Joe Cotignola – no written report but Joe did advise that member packets have again changed;

*SO-VE (VESSEL EXAMS) – George Schneider – no written report but George has received backup supplies for VSE materials & advises new Form #7038 in place;

*SO-SR (SECRETARY) – Ruth Bearce – complete ’07 Minutes have been filed away but are available for review by all members, as needed.  For convenience, Flotilla Commanders can email their monthly reports to her prior to Division meetings;

*SO-PB (PUBLICATIONS) – Terry Bearce – no written report but he did ask that all directory changes be submitted to him by end of January, ’08 because all information, as received, will be sent in for final printing as of 1/31/08;

*SO-PE (PUBLIC EDUCATION) – Ron Coleman – see written report – new standard for instructors per NJ State Police meeting held on 12/15/07 – background check to include fingerprinting, photo & resume and purpose is to increase integrity of instruction – this is due by 5/31/08 but VCP Ted Hall did advise that the actual implementation/process for the above to occur is still being discussed and all members will be advised, accordingly.  Right now, this is FOR INFORMATION ONLY!  Ron further advises first test-out option test will be held on Saturday, 1/26/08 and he is still looking for volunteers to assist him and anyone interested, can give him a call @732-295-4626;Top Of This Page

*NATIONAL SAFE BOATING WEEK – Noreen Schifini – advises dates changed to week of 5/24-6/1/08.  Initial conversation w/Mr. McDonnell has occurred and he states that due to security reasons, there will not be an Open House event this year;

*CG LIAISON – Bill Francen – see written report.

VCP REPORT: 

He is holding his Staff Officers’ meeting @Sail Loft on Saturday, 1/26/08 and may try and tie it in w/above mentioned Test Out Option course being held that same morning.  Ted will send his officers an email confirming time and place!

*Please contact York Conference & Hotel Hall on 1/25/08 for reservations to this year’s Spring Conference;

*Dennis is asking each Flotilla to focus on signing up at least 4 new members by end of ’08;

*Joe Cotignola volunteered tonight to be our new Division 16 Liaison w/State Police;

*Both “SOUNDINGS” and “NOREASTER” magazines will now publish our Division’s PE courses.

*Captain Harrob sent very nice note of thanks as he attended this year’s COW and he looks forward to working w/us all in 2008;

*Note received from Director’s Office for the donations received for the Carmen DeGeorgio fund totaling $2,100, to date.

*COW Committee – good time was had by all and many thanks to the committee for their excellent work;

*50th Anniversary Committee – meeting tomorrow night, 1/9/08 and tentative date has been penciled in for May 18, 2008.
